Van der Vlist Synergy – Special & Heavy Transport and Technical Services
The Van der Vlist group recently completed the movement of a Caterpillar 777 Rigid Dumptruck.
The used machine was 5.18M high so needed to be dismantled to allow for movement by road. A good example of group synergy, the project involved staff from our technical, projects and transport departments.
Colleagues from our German office were challenged to find a suitable route from the collection site in Karlstad, Germany to the delivery point in Antwerp. Despite road closures it was possible to find a suitable route and transport the machine in two nights. The machine was dismantled to be moved on three different trucks comprising the base machine, dump body and tyres with ancillaries.
When arrived in Antwerp, a team of Van der Vlist technicians took over to reassemble the tyres, allowing the machine to drive from the trailer under the crane ready for the dump body to be lifted in place and attached.
Once fully complete, the reassembled machine was fully operational and ready to drive onto the Ro-ro vessel in Antwerp for its next destination.
